What I realized today is that console gaming as we know it is dead and has been for a while. All the consoles that have been coming out in the last few years have just been toys for the rich kids to keep them out of their parents hair for a while.
I mean, duh!, how blind have I been not to see this before?
The way a new system hits just over a year and a half after the last one (where back in the day it was at least 3 years before a new system hit) and the new titles coming out are just crap that have a catch, but are shit to play.
And now the price hikes in the systems that rival that of the NeoGeo from days gone past. Now paying over half a grand for a system is the norm not the exception.
Sigh.
Stupid consoles. Why did you have to sell out my childhood?
I guess I've been feeling this since the last go around with the consoles. Since the Dreamcast the systems have been mass market tools for cash not entertainment.
Fuck am I saying that the Dreamcast was either the pinical of console gaming or am I saying that it was the death of it? Hmmmm... that's something to think on.
Anyway I'm bored and obviously have very little to think on.
Oh well I'm going to watch a movie and possibly drink until thoughts like that don't enter in my mind anymore.
I want my console gaming back damnit!
